What's Been Happening?

Towersey.
A huge big thanks to everyone who turned out for our special "Pack of Jokers" launch gig at Towersey. The spontaneous dancing and other choreography was absolutely fantastic and we all thought it was one of the best gigs we have had the pleasure to do. Sorry if you didn't get a glass of bubbly at the start but we really didn't know how many people were going to turn up. The whole weekend at Towersey was a blast and we all had a thoroughly great time. Hopefully we will have some photos to put up on the "about to be revamped" website so look out for those. There are also lots of reviews of "Pack of Jokers" coming in with plenty of quotable comments to enjoy. Our favourite at the moment is from Sheffield based Stirrings magazine and it goes "The Whaps have completed their leisurely transition from a folk band with a rock rhythm section to a fully-functioning roots-rock juggernaut" - good innit? Expect to see "roots -rock juggernaut" appearing on publicity in the not too distant future.

Here Comes the Groom
Mike in marriage shock! - "Probably the most handsome member of the Whaps" (his own words), Mike Coleman, is tying the knot on the 14th October and later on getting married to his long time partner, Lorna. Both are said to be "thrilled" and looking forward to a long and happy life and, as Lorna points out, "He's away a lot of the time so it's worth the risk". Suggestions for Mike's wedding outfit gratefully received.

Whaps in Motion!
Exciting news now about our excursion into the world of moving pictures. In December we are producing our first music video and are looking for willing participants to appear on it as dancers, crowd scenes, circus acrobats etc. It's taking place in and around Stroud on the weekend of the 3 and 4 December and if you would like to come and join us and take part in this historic venture please let us know. email video@whapweasel.com and we will provide you with details.

Last Month's Competition
Not such a good response to last month's competition for a new musician joke. The best (and least offensive) entry came from Helen Thorn who wins a copy of "Pack of Jokers". Congratulations! This months competition is featured opposite.

Tom Fairbairn
Finally, we are delighted to announce that Tom Fairbairn, fiddler gent, is now a permanent member of the Whaps. Tom has done a fine job this year and we look forward to great times ahead. Huge thanks to all of you who have given us encouragement and support over the last few months.
