Next stop Hollywood

Freezing cold swimming pools, running about in mazes, temporary signposts erected on moorland in deepest Gloucestershire. What on earth is going on? Well, these were just some of the many bizarre events surrounding our foray into the film and cinematic world that was "Whapweasel - The Video". Shot over 2 days in early December the video was produced by Rebecca "Becs", a final year film student and long time Whap fan. With her were a gallant crew, an enthusiastic band of Whaps and some very game extras to provide authenticity. Close security surrounds the content of the film but it is being tipped for "Best Short Film featuring an 8 Piece Folk Rock Band" in the forthcoming Oscars. Thanks to everyone who took part; particularly the dancers at the Sub Rooms, Stroud who performed a special choreographed piece whilst the Whaps mimed, yes mimed! to one of their numbers. Great fun.

Whaps find their voice

In February at a private function the Whaps performed their very first vocal number - a self penned instant sure fire hit - entitled "Our Bus" So great was the response from the (mainly) young audience we have been inspired to write write write. Our intention is, following surgery and vocal coaching, to launch our brand of Whapsongs on an unsuspecting public at various venues during 2006. This will be followed by a new album in 2007 and instant worldwide success. Some of us have already identified the island(s) we are going to own and retire to and offshore bank accounts have been established. Watch this space.

2005 - What a year!

It's been a strange year for the Whaps which started with winning the Folk Award and recording the new album. Then we had a change in personnel followed by several festival appearances, concert spots, arts centres, dance events and the occasional private party. We've managed to get through the year which we're all very happy about and we're looking forward to developing the Whap sound during 2006. A huge thanks to everyone who's supported us through the year by coming to gigs and dancing, listening, clapping, cheering and providing us with that buzz that keeps you going. Thanks for buying the albums, T shirts, Tune Books and other things. Thanks for the messages and comments we have had throughout the year - keep them coming. Best wishes from The Whaps.
