Competition
The winner of last month's competition is Andrew Gordon. Congratulations!
A special "launch " prize will be winging it's way
to him shortly.
This month's competition is all about musician jokes. We have
heard many many jokes abvout musicians over the years and
we think it's about time that some new ones were broadcast.
Therefore, with you're your help, we would like you to come
up with a brand new musician joke, preferably not about drummers
which of course it couldn't be, by definition. Please send
your entry to
competition@whapweasel.com
Closing date Friday 9 September 2005
Copy of "Pack of Jokers" to the winner.

July Gigs.
As July becomes a distant memory and we speed towards the
end of August we reflect on our trip to Sidmouth, events at
the Big Chill Festival, our first appearance at Trowbridge
Village Pump Festival and a double header at North and South
Shields. Back in July we played two gigs at the Mouth of the
Tyne festival up here in the North East. The festival was
organized as a pre cursor to the Tall Ships Festival and the
enthusiastic crowd were treated to a variety of acts and bands
including the Chipolatas, The Bahgdaddies and ourselves. The
event was memorable for the appearance of a lone dancer who,
locked in a trance like world, strutted his stuff oblivious
of the crowds all through our set. With moves that would have
graced Covent Garden he gyrated and pirouetted his way through
many Whap favorites. Our thoughts go with him. |

Trowbridge Village Pump
Trowbridge Village Pump is a fine festival and we thoroughly
enjoyed playing to what was a new audience for us. The response
was terrific so thanks to everyone who was there. |

Sidmouth
It was with mixed feelings as we headed to Sidmouth for the
new look festival. Over the last few years Sidmouth has been
one of our favorite venues and has become almost a second
home. We didn't really know what to expect this year but needn't
have worried. Although the festival was smaller with fewer
crowds, our LNE was very well attended and, as we encored
with "Last Banana" and "Bus to Bombay",
happy memories swelled up in our inner beings. The gig the
following day at the Ham was also well attended. A big thanks
to everyone who helped make it happen. I think with a few
adjustments to ticketing and other arrangements next year's
Sidmouth will be cooking. |

The Big Chill
The week concluded with a trip to the Big Chill Festival at
Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire. A wonderful setting stretching
over several acres. (It was a 45-minute walk from the main
entrance to the site of our gig). We played from 3 till 6
with the ubiquitous Gordon Potts doing the calling duties.
He's such a wag! A great time was had by all. Special thanks
to the stewards and artist liaison who were terrific, very
friendly and extremely chilled. |
