Important Announcement!
We are delighted to announce that fiddle maestro Tom Fairbairn
will be joining the band (on electric violin, and big amp)
for all our gigs this year. This follows on from the injury
problems we reported last month and means that we are able
to fulfill all our commitments. Rehearsals have gone really
well and Tom's first gig with the Whaps happened last Friday
(15 April) at a private party in Newcastle. A quickly organised
audience poll - and detailed market research - indicated
that the rest of the band were up to Tom's standard (photo
of the hairy fiddler on the website soon). We're all looking
forward to the gigs coming up starting on the 6th May at
Cromer Festival followed by a trip to Holmfirth the following
day.

| New Album
"Pack of Jokers" is now mixed, mastered and awaiting
completion of the artwork. We're all delighted with the
end result and Tom recorded some strings for us on one of
the tracks. The official album launch will be at Towersey
Festival in August, but it will be available before then!

| Competition Results
Terrific responses to both the February and March competitions.
Thanks to everyone for taking part... As usual, copies of
the new album - "Pack of Jokers" - to the winners.
The February competition to guess the overall
length of the new album in minutes and seconds was won by
Barbara Klaening with 53 minutes and 26 seconds.
The actual time is 52 minutes 37 seconds
The March Competition - "The Noddy Holder
Caption Challenge" -received several entries that were
frankly, unprintable, but gave us a laugh anyway. There
were also several that came very close but after due consideration
we decided that our favourite entry was from Patrick
Doherty for his effort, Noddy thinking: "No
wonder the bass player's so good
he's got two left
hands!"
We also particularly liked this contribution from Neil
Davies-Day which had Fiona saying: "Bob,
that mask makes you look nothing like Dave Mattacks".
Unfortunately, it didn't fully comply with the strict rules
of our competition (which required any thoughts or comments
to come from Noddy). Picky or what?! See opposite for this
month's all new fun packed challenge
